Summer 2010 - THE POTOMAC

Two Poems
   Ayse Dayi

Inward

Once you strip down to the last lie,
fend off all the white noise,
Turn your eyes inside,
and look
and feel
All the peaks of joy
the deep faults of pain and sorrow
and
the passionate sea,
What do you see?

A journey begins...

Everything has a beginning
and an end..
the thing is to discern one from the other..
Not by thinking about it
Not by staring at the wall
or an empty bowl
but more like staring at yourself
in the mirror
in full sunlight
preferably on a spring day
and crossing into yourself
and back
a slight bow of respect
a luminous smile
you take the step to begin the journey between the two ends..
